WHY READING IS BENEFICIAL
Reading is for everyone and if you think that
reading is not for you then you surely haven’t picked up the right book
yet. I believe why most people say they don’t enjoy reading is because of
the mindset. They read books that they don’t enjoy and end up saying they don’t
enjoy reading.
People don’t usually realize how underrated reading
is. It’s quiet unsettling for someone like me, for whom books are a very
important part of life, to think of the possibility that there are people out
there that have never in their lives experienced the feeling of being immersed
by a book to the point where you forget that you’re reading and you can
actually see the whole text playing out in your head like a movie and suddenly
you realize that you’ve read a hundred pages without a pause. It’s honestly the
best feeling ever.
Reading is not just an activity or a habit. It is a
lifestyle, yet so many of us take it for granted. We don’t realize how
important it is for our brains to read. It helps improve your brain functions.
Basically, it is exercise for your brain. And reading from an early age helps
develop a child’s mind. It promotes curiosity, maturity, enhances their
imagination, increases their attention and concentration span and turns them in
to quick learners.
Research has proved that reading strengthens the
mind, it is said to reduce stress and build vocabulary. Apart from all the
entertainment it provides, reading can actually help you turn into a
self-learner. It means you develop the ability to teach yourself a subject.
All you need to do is sit down and pick up a book
that piques your interest. It’s not always necessary that you enjoy the
bestselling books or the classics. Everyone has their own taste and with the abundance of books out there, there is a book for everyone, you just have to look for it.
